In Sint-Jansvest, history used to be written and re-written. Here, a librarian and publisher was dedicated to the conservation of history and its books and to bringing back the history of our beloved city through the art of the press house.
The Librarian is a dedication to a Legend that lived through the beautiful time of the printed word´s first revelations and dedicated his life to preserving the literature of the past and present. The publisher bringing back the history of our beloved city Ghent and publish it for all Ghentians to be able to enjoy the culture of their heritage. I can imagine the publisher sitting behind his press machine, wearing a monocle, choosing the letters and setting them side by side , inking the words, getting ready to really print history.
Dedicated to the Librarian who has lived and will forever live in the memory of its visitors.
LOW EMISSION ZONE
Since 2020, Ghent is located in a Low Emission Zone, which means that older cars with high emissions cannot enter the city centre to improve air quality in the city. If you want to check whether you can enter the city with your car or look at a map of the location of the zone, you can visit:
- The street we are located in is a no-cars allowed zone
- Underground parkings Kouter & Central are around the corner and cost around 16 euros for 24 hours
- You can park in the streets around but you will be in the red parking zone (10 euros per 3 hours)
- There are also several Park & Ride parkings around the city where you can leave your car for a very small fee or free and take public transportation into the city
